Lone Star Mat Club Competes Strong at OWRTC Duals

Lone Star Mat Club made a strong showing at the OWRTC Duals this past weekend, bringing two competitive teams to Oklahoma City University on May 31st for an action-packed day of wrestling.

The tournament drew 14 talented teams from across the region, with wrestlers traveling from Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, and Arkansas to compete. This impressive turnout created an electric atmosphere and provided our athletes with the chance to face diverse competition from throughout the heartland.

Both Lone Star Mat Club teams represented our program with pride and determination. The Blue team secured a solid 7th place finish, while the Red team battled hard to earn 12th place among the competitive field. These results reflect the dedication and skill our wrestlers have been developing through countless hours of training.

Beyond the wins and losses, this tournament served as an invaluable experience for our female wrestlers. The event provided extensive mat time that simply can’t be replicated in practice, allowing our athletes to test their skills against new opponents and refine their techniques under tournament pressure.

Perhaps most importantly, the duals fostered the spirit of camaraderie that makes girls wrestling such a special community. Our wrestlers had the opportunity to connect with athletes from other programs, building friendships and mutual respect that extend far beyond the wrestling mat. These connections strengthen the entire girls wrestling community across our region.

The OWRTC Duals proved to be exactly what our program needed – quality competition, valuable experience, and the chance to be part of the growing sisterhood of female wrestlers. We’re proud of how both teams represented Lone Star Mat Club and look forward to building on this momentum in future competitions.
